Transport and Fate of Metals & VOCs
in Soil and Groundwater

Seminar Summary:

This course provides participants with the latest science and technology necessary to effectively assess, manage, and remediate sites contaminated with metals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The course begins with an overview of metal and VOC partitioning and transport, followed by an update on high-resolution site characterization technologies. The training concludes with an overview of metal and VOC attenuation in soil and groundwater emphasizing the latest science and models.

This Seminar will include all course proceedings, worksheets, and reference materials. It is aimed at providing intermediate to advanced education to the attendees on these topics.

About the Instructor:

Erick McWayne, UC Davis Extension and NEMA

Erick McWayne has over twenty-three years of professional experience with soil and groundwater quality investigations and teaching related courses. As a consultant, he managed contaminated surface water, soil, and groundwater projects for the Department of Defense and other clients. He currently provides consulting support to water quality projects and teaches courses in contaminant chemistry, transport and fate, hydrogeology, natural attenuation, and remediation for UC Davis and National Environmental Management Academy (NEMA).
